Kontakt 5 will help you authorize the library. It won't have any graphics, because it was created before Kontakt libraries could support custom graphics, but the patches will work. Once you have that, you can launch Kontakt Player 5, and use the Library tab's Add Library to add it as a library. However, you will always be able to use the library itself. There is no way to use the original disc installers on a modern computer.

However, the content still works! The key here is this: find an old computer you can run the installer on, install it, and once you have the EWQLSO Gold Library folder, you MUST save this folder and back it up and take care not to lose it. The EWQLSO discs are so old that the installer will no longer run on a modern computer. Yes, it is possible, with a couple of asterisks. i can then tick "Keep search mode and selected folders for the current session".īut then, every time I choose another sample Kontakt performs this search for the samples.

Then I have to click Resolve manually, then Browse for the folder they're in, then initiate a search. I have tried it, but I always have to launch a search for wav files in those nks files. If so how can i do it the right way? (The whole thing, not just one sample etc.) Is it possible to use that same library in Kontakt 5 Player?Ģ. (I had over 200 GB of physical memory that given time).ġ.

If I save a project (in the latest Ableton version) and i want to reload it a later time, then multiple windows will open and ask that tiring question again and again.and that as many times as I have chosen samples in that project. So for each and every time i want to try out or change a sound this window annoyingly prompts the hair off my head. Loading more samples might cause problems When I want to load a sound in Kompakt it says: I have never used it because of so many technological hurdles which are too tiring to explain.but I really wish I could use it now, since I have paid about 500 EUR for it, and it'd be a waste of time and money to give up on it now and invest in other libraries (f.

It's rather old, and it came with NI Kompakt. I have bought the East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold Edition in 2006. I hope that someone can illuminate me on this matter. Although I own most of them, I have since found products in each area that beat all of them individually. You can skip to the So here's to my question: part below if you do not want to read all my boring text As for EWQL in general, I personally find EWQL products to be overrated. Otherwise, I’d go for it and hope for some inspiration to go deeper into orchestral work as I do enjoy working in that genre from time to time. The only reason I don’t own Synthobia is the expense. As stated previously by another person, EWQL is getting on in years and I suspect you’ll find Synthobia more advanced, yet easier to work with, especially when doing runs and things of that nature.

If you have the money, skills and mainly compose for full orchestras, my opinion is to forget EWQL string libraries and step way up to Synthobia, also by Project SAM. Keep in mind against, that I am not primarily an orchestral guy. I just don’t have the time to spend on making the EWQL strings work for me on their own. I only use EWQL because I paid for it and might as well use it. I’ve been known to mix OE and EWQL Gold, but much prefer OE’s sound. They are processed to my taste, combine orchestral sections well, provide great orchestral effect simulations, and work well with hybrid works. However, for people doing the type of work I generally do, Project SAM’s Orchestral Essentials is sufficient and considerably less expensive. If you are not someone with a good degree of formal training in orchestral arrangement and conducting, and don’t have the engineering chops in the mixing department when it comes to working with a live orchestra, prepare to be exposed.

MIDI editing to get the best out of the articulations and proper dynamics is pretty much mandatory because real-time keyswitches and use of the mod wheel probably aren’t going to cut it across the board.

You really have to spend the time to mix and process them as if you’re working with a real orchestra and not rely on the software to help with realism to any major extent. From the POV of a person who is not primarily an orchestral composer, but has used the EWQL string libraries to write less intense orchestral works at times, I find them to require quite a bit of work to sound as good as those demos on the site.
